How many of you have had the cold start knock problems on the Gen III ?

    just wondering as this was pointed out to me, i heard it on youtube, horrible.. Just wondering how common this is and if the intake change fixes it.

    I have had it happen once after our first cold spell (couple of weeks ago), but not since, and not in 2 years of ownership. So I have not had the fix done.

    If it's any help, I've had about 12 different rental 2010 / 2011 Prius cars and never heard anything remotely like a knock sound.

    Another note. I think you were asking about the short trips. I filled up Sunday, reset gage. The longest trip has been 5 miles, the others really short like couple miles. Gage is reading 45 MPG, which means about 42.5 actual. All suburban driving. So, this is at least 10 over what one would get in a Civic or Corolla, same conditions.

    THANKS CYCLEDRUM.. this helps me immensely.. I have had about 5 people now with similar numbers on short trips.. I greatly appreciate it. I will read the poll on the cold starts..
