I have two low mileage cars that only get fresh gas every other year. Am I happy about it, no.
They get started in the driveway every now and then and moved around but only driven every other year to get pollution inspected. My 2004 Hyundai XG350 is due inspection in November.
The cars all seem to run fine on old gas.

Having lived in California for a dozen years, I made the following observation after returning to New England:

"You know those frigid two-degree winter mornings when you go out to your car and it won't even move.
Well, unlike California, neither will your house."
The Prime seems to have solved this dilemma. While cold weather may reduce its range, the electric motor starts right up and doesn't need a warm-up period.

Now if we could just get Boston drivers to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks -- and get pedestrians to use crosswalks -- and figure out a way to get people to stay in lane with those little bumpy reflective road lane markers. Oh, well.

Hey Bob, they can build a house to withstand a hurricane (built to withstand 250 mph winds)!

Yeah. That’s is my frustration as well. I wish they could have made the pure EV range double what it is. Because it’s like driving 2 different cars. Once you are in ev mode and don’t hear any engine noise, it is blissful. Then a frown comes on my face when the engine kicks in. But since it’s such a gas supper anyways, I guess you can’t complain too much. Lol.
