How many people have met in person here or formed frienships?

    I am just curious how many people have met in person here and became friends? I am talking to 3 or 4 people and planning on meeting a couple, one for sure. How cool is that? The lady in Eugene and I are going to hook up when we have a chance, the guy who I thought I stole his car (but didnt thank god) may meet if the deal goes through in Calif , plus a couple others here (you know who you are) one in particular, has helped me sooooooooo much and I consider him a friend.


    Anyone else get together and meet thier online buddies?:mod:

    I met a few people from here when we were at the NYC Prius Connection event. It was a great time and nice to finally put a face to the usernames.

    Meet with these people? Are you serious? They're all freaks!!

    Actually, as Evan said, I've met a handful at Hybridfest and met more at Detroit. I've also met the Chicagoland members at the multiple ChicagoPriusGroup meetings as well as car shows and the like.

    I actually look forward to meetings with other PCers.

    Meet a few nice folks from here at the NYC Prius Priority Party and 2 years ago meet quite a few at the Ky. plant tour event, Jud even hosted a picnic at his house we all had a really special good time.

    Countless.

    Over my 9 years of supporting Prius, I've met lots. In the early days, it was easy. There were so few, meeting at a coffee shop wasn't a big deal. But now, especially a gathering with a 2010 Prius present, could cause a public disturbance. You'd be surprised how many names online you get to finally place with faces. It's really fun having a hybrid in common.

    Meeting in Detroit was to the point of being surreal. Having had exchanges with some of those there for years really made the experience fulfilling.

    I'm looking forward to more...

    I met quite a few while at the Prius Detroit Connection and that were all pretty damn cool. ;)

    I've met a few outside of that single event and definately made friends with this darn canuck up in British Columbia as well as this guy that always seems willing to Tripp me up and this weirdo in China who studies dirt, and a doctor who can't spell, a dangerous girl who is never going to finish school even though her husband did, and and and all hell. I like everyone. Even the people I have on ignore. :)

    Good question, hmm let's see.

    Joined 4/13/09.

    Anything of interest? Oh yeah almost slipped my mind.

    Met an online Prius Chat Gal 4/15.
    Went out a few times.
    Engaged 4/25.
    Wedding was last Saturday.
    Divorce scheduled for next Wednesday.

    That's about it.

    Oh - she gets my 2010 Prius in the settlement.
    Whenever it arrives. Darnit.

    For all you 'gullible ones' NOT true, just kidding. I would have put a smiley face at the end to indicate that, but.

    If it did happen, she would have had to bring the case to the Supreme Court to get my new Prius. Of course, by the time the case would be heard by them, I MAY get the car.....

    By the way - I am the MOST GULLIBLE person around. So don't feel bad...sorry.

    A rough history:
    • Oct. 7, 2005 - Picked up a 2003, NHW11 in Fort Worth TX
    • Oct. 12, 2005 - found 'classic' GreenHybrid.com to record mileage
    • Jan 2007 - first Georgetown KY plant tour
    • Oct 2007 - second Georgetown KY plant tour
    • Jul 2008 - Hybridfest, booth duty with petitions
    • Oct 2008 - third Georgetown KY plant tour
    • Jan 2009 - Detroit meeting
    So I've had a chance to meet and chat with many members of the community. Although sometimes folks get busy and I'm not one to ... inject myself into social chats.

    Locally, I've met four Prius owners in Huntsville:
    • Lee - 2009 Prius
    • Kathrin - 2009 Prius
    • David - 2008 Prius
    • Amen - at least two NHW11s, rebuilding and selling
    In a social situation, I'd probably find a quiet place to take a nap. What wakes me up:
    • The clank of tools
    • Click of test instruments
    • Ouhhh, hybrid parts
    • A 'hard' problem - intermittent or obscure stuff
    • Credible Prius reports - SAE papers, AutoSpeed, technical groups
    • Anti-Prius nonsense - depending upon degree and phase of moon, I don't seek them but I won't back down.

    I'd say PCD was the first time I met most of the people here. There was also the follow-up PC LA where I saw some of them again, as well as seeing a few familiar faces from the Orange County Prius club that I used to go to meetings for when I lived that way.

    Detroit was definately most memorable. It was very exciting to put faces to names that I had been corresponding with since as far back as 2001 or 2002.

    Still trying to decide if Hybridfest is possible this year. The Mrs. wants to go as a family next year and isn't quite as keen for me wanting to go w/o them this year (they have other stuff going on). Surprise, AZ to Madison, WI is a bit of a drive though. ;)

    The drives not that bad Rick, heck that's a weekend trip for me-Madison to AZ and back.


    Having been to every Hybridfest, 2 of 3 Georgetown plant tours, Prius Connection Detroit/Chicago/LA/SF (the PriusTeam's restraining order has almost expired), meetings of the Chicago Prius Group/Milwaukee Hybrid Group/LIPOG/Central Virginia Prius Group/San Diego Prius Group/Cincinnati Hybrid-Hypermilers Group/Indianapolis Prius Group AND those 128 Prius owners who have had engine block heaters installed across the country............I can say I've been blessed to meet hundreds of Prius owners and truly enjoy the continued bonds made with many of them.
