How much would you pay for a 30 mile EV mode?

    Dr. Andrew Frank, a leading researcher who has designed and implemented his own Prius feels that one with an AER (all electric range) of 60 miles can be mass produced for around $3-5,000 over. he states that $1,000 for each 10 miles of AER is what he considers a good starting point that will benefit both manufacturer and consumer.

    Given the huge amount of publicity and media attention the plug-in hybrid is now receiving, the big political push for PHEVs from the US PHEV alliance, the amazing mpg demonstrations of several startup companies and the fact that even your president is calling for PHEVs to be introduced....


    How likely is it that Toyota are not frantically preparing a PHEV to tap into this market?

    Stringer, I believe that we are not talking about a car that can run on EV mode at 50 MPH, but instead, one that could go 50 MPC (miles per charge), regardles of speed.
