FORTUNATELY, we have the ability to provide for our own retirement. One of the MANY MANY MANY lies about Social Security we were told when they rolled it out is that it was supposed to be a supplement to a retirement income. SS(*) was rolled out when people were, LITERALLY starving to death and dying from exposure during the Great Depression. (*) SS meaning Social Security - not a tattoo favored by some trust fund Maine Senate candidates......
appreciate social security and the safety net it provides.......... but........ if I were given the choice of not contributing to social security and investing all the money I had contributed to social security over my working years - I would opt out of the program and would have invested my social security contributions instead in a way I chose and then live off those investments. Unfortunately, the Social Security System is somewhat tied to the Social Security Disability funding which is a fraud and criminal nightmare which would easily rival the California and Minnesota Medicare fraud entrepreneurs in many instances ... which actually cripples the system in terms of adequately helping those members of our society who actually truly need the help.
