Oh man. I was hitting 90+ within the first 100 hundred miles of getting the car. Guess I'm lucky the engine didn't blow up on me.

    Nexus 6P ?

From Las Vegas here. I'm going to SoCal end of the month to pickup a 2022 PP.

Should I take my time and zigzag around SoCal on my way home so that it can be broken in properly instead of just getting straight onto I15 and diving home?

i think it's a good idea. take the scenic route. if you must take the highway, vary your speeds, do not use cruise

I had to make a 150ish mile round trip on I-5 in the first week of ownership. I kept it in HV mode and varied the speed between 60-70 on the highway. That was easy to do because I was playing with the radar cruise control the whole time.

I just put 1000km on my PP and didn't know about this "break in" period, but I can safely say that I mostly followed the guidelines throughout my run.

The break-in period for the engine for me took way longer because I wanted to see:

    • how long the dealer tank will last
    • how long the engine will stay off if run in EV mode exclusively

Needless to say, I'm sure the engine is run in fine right now and definitely has done more than 1,600km worth of run time.
