How to check fuel pressure

    I'm getting more or less daily 3190 insufficient power codes, where the engine stalls out, and the usual Christmas tree of lights on the dash. Is there a straightforward way to check fuel pressure? Alldata shows an adaptor needed, plus some t-fittings, etc. Does anyone have a source / part no / name for the adaptor to tap into the fuel rail? Or is there a gauge available with the correct fitting?

    Even the Toyota manual itself (page SF-6) just has you go buy an extra fuel tube and cannibalize the connector off the end, and then cobble something together with this, this, this, and this.

    Thanks. I should be able to bodge something together. The crooks at Toyota Canada want $160 plus tax for that hose.....

    Yup. Might order it from the States if I can't find a knock-off version here (which isn't looking too promising so far).

    What about a fuel tube from a junk yard. They most likely just cut the line anyway so it could be cheap.

    Have you tried cleaning the throttle body and throttle plate, and the mass air flow sensor. What is the condition of the iridium spark plugs?

    Did the throttle body clean and replaced the plugs, with no improvement. That's why I'm on to the fuel pressure. I have been getting a couple of codes about vacuum problems the last few days. Something else to hunt down....

    I suggest you check:

    1. Air cleaner housing clamp to throttle body.
    2. Throttle body gasket to intake manifold.
    3. Loose PCV hose, engine oil cap, or dipstick.
    4. Crack in intake manifold or air cleaner housing

    There's literally not a single other post anywhere on checking fuel pressure. Isn't this as simple as removing the windshield wiper cowl and then Ying into the fuel line coming into the back of the fuel rail? Or is it so simple that nobody ever asks?

    Yes, it's "exactly that simple", and you find out how simple "exactly that simple" is as soon as you go to Y into that fuel line. When you'd like to see a list of the parts to make that possible, see post #2.
