Living in the Midwest, sometimes you stomp around in the sludge and prevent force to get in your car. A little bit of time is past and I have never really addressed it. I’m wondering how I go about cleaning this...

IF......you have been tracking in winter "sludge" for 7 years, a good cleaning probably is not possible.
A replacement of the mat likely is required.

Use an all-weather mat instead of a carpeted mat. It is easily washable.

I have not been for seven years, it’s been two winters.

Well it is only two replies, but you guys definitely seem to be suggesting that cleaning is not gonna be possible and that I should just replace it

I am sure you can try steam carpet cleaner, but it may be easier just to wash it with running water with a garden hose. Still, the carpet mat never goes back to the pristine look once soiled by dirt and mud.

Right... thank you. It’s expensive but the all weather replacement seems best.

Yeah, you can give it a try by washing it. As suggested, using a power washer at the car wash is a great idea. If that doesn't work, it maybe is a time to change to an all-weather mat. If you do, you may want to consider WeatherTech or Husky brand mat over OEM. Don't know about C but they are usually better coverage and more durable than OEM mat.

lay the mat down in the driveway and soak it with Dawn dish soap. not the concentrated stuff, that's garbage.

hang it from a chair and pressure wash it with a fan spray top to bottom, clear water.

it may take two times to get clear water running off the mat.

my 25 year old truck floormats came perfectly clean this way.

it really helps to let the sun dry them to kill smells also
