Didn't see an answer to my question upon searching.

When charging a Prius 12V with a CTEK charger, do you connect normally via the front contacts under the hood? Or should you connect directly to the 12V battery in the rear compartment?

PS Been reading this forum a lot the past three years since getting into the Prius game. Thanks for all the info. Happy to be making my first post!

    welcome!
can do either, but once in awhile, the jump point doesn't work well. i would start there, and if no luck, move to the battery.

    Welcome.

Dont touch the battery in the trunk with the exceptions of making sure the 12 volt battery is not sitting in water like so many other G2's. Bad cabin leak back there on all of them. If your car is not garaged its probably siting in water. There's a plug in the bottom of that battery well. Water under the spare tire too.

I have a Citek MUS too I really like it. I have been doing remedial charges for years with it always use the front jump point. Check the battery voltage at the front jump point once in a while before charging.

A healthy G2 battery lives at 12.6 volts at the front jump point.

I have the CTEK quick-connect wiring installed at the fuse box (on my 3rd gen), using it near-constantly these days. No problems.

I have the CTEK quick-connect wiring installed directly to the battery terminal clamps. I, too, have been using the quick connect near-constantly these days. No problems.

Which model CTEK charger do you recommend? They seem to have many amperage models

I'm using CTEK 4.3. They seem to have shifted the names/spec'd some. Maybe either MXS3.8 or MXS5.0?

    That's UK link, US/Canada is Smartercharger.com

MXS5.0 and MXS4.3 same amperage 4.3, combination charger maintainer,
MXS4.3 has additional battery and alternator test function.
