How can i safely remove (without damaging) the white cover from the steering wheel (not the button-row)?
I want to wrap this with a 3D carbon look plastic and reinstall afterwards.

Is it simply pull and click for reinstalling ? Or must i pull on a special place .........

I know some people have masked the steering wheel and used Plastidip to color that area black. I believe there are kits with other colors available in Japan, so the documentation must be available somewhere, assuming the US wheel is the same. I know some ountries have a leather wrapped wheel, for instance.

Thanks for the info .... but i don't want to paint or spray paint in the car .... i rather do it outside .....
I found a company that have black shells for the white cover off the shifter but no cover for the steering wheel.

Mario-V, I sent you a PM, it seems that its screwed on and you have to remove the entire steering wheel, I found these two pics of a salvage yard pull of the piece, it would be easiest to wait for a third party part

The buttons on the wheel are different in Japan, for instance.

For those interested in purchasing Prius accessories from Japan, I suggest googling for Rakuten. The site will do the JPY to USD conversion for you.

Have you or anyone else had experience using that service? I'm interested in buying a couple things.

I just ordered some side moldings. It's not entirely clear if they will fit, but they are less than $60 USD, so I thought I'd take a change. Google Suzuki Motors Rakuten. They are listed as door edge protectors, and they come in white, silver, black, red Maika metallic, blue, and dark blue. I got silver ones.

Has anyone figured out how to remove the steering wheel yet? I can only find posts related to 3rd gen and before... 4th gen appears to be different, there is a removable panel on the right side by the cruise control but i dont see a clip or anything on the other side to be able to release the air bag cover.... Anyone had success?

I Think I have the TIS diagrams, but its pretty involved for something that involves airbags

I worked it out. There are 3 holes on the back side of the wheel that you have to insert a flat head screwdriver into, inside are spring clips that when compressed will release the airbag.
After the airbag is removed you can access all of the inner components of the steering wheel including trim pieces etc.

What's under the white trim, would it look ok with it removed altogether, or does it cover some unsightly part of the wheel ?

A professional wrapper could wrap the white pieces in place. I would assume the cost would be less than $100.
