Hello Prius specialists! I started yesterday the procedure for changing a cell in the HV battery and everything was as described in the youtube videos, except that today when I wanted to continue, I cannot open the 5-th door! I closed yesterday evening and today I cannot open it! The battery is out, the other doors can be open. Please help!

    Thank you.

There is a manual lever on the inside of the hatch, right in the middle where the hatch normally would latch on when shut.

If everything in the back is removed, you should be able to see it easily

Thank you very much! It opened easily. If you are curious about the mileage, my Prius 2005 has 221,800 miles, just yesterday I decided to change a cell in the HV battery by myself, after running around 2 months with a bed cell. Details: I ran twice around 140 miles without stopping with bad battery. After 7-8 miles the indicator for charging the battery stooped working, but the car was running (maximum 50 MPH). I think that the computer prevents the Prius to run only on gas (like non-hybrid vehicles), is it true?

well, you do need a functioning hybrid battery to keep starting the engine. that's pretty cool, i hope it works out well for you!

The computer puts the car on limp mode, it cannot run only the gas engine without the hybrid functions, it'll go in limp mode when the hybrid functions fail
