Hybrid Battery part number compatibility

Hi all,

My Dr Prius app says 38% left in my 14 year old, 150,000 mile Gen 3 Prius.

Time to shop around for a new one...... Well I found a salvage Lexus CT200H, with low miles, and a 2017 build date.

Problem is that the part numbers don't match up. The packs look identical:

Lexus part is G951076012 while my Toyota dealer says the replacement part that they would order is G951047062

Any ideas whether I can risk it? What could possibly go wrong

 

A google search shows two ebay listings stating that the part numbers are interchangeable. Not sure if I should put much weight on that.

 

If nobody knows what the difference is, I'll spin the wheel and buy it. If it is a battery management can bus protocol issue of some sort, I can always swap just the cell modules so I doubt it's too much of a risk.

 

Ok I changed the battery over and with an abundance of caution I also kept the old cell monitor circuit and contactor box.

The new Lexus CT200H battery works great with the Prius.

The only difference I see is that the Lexus part number G951076012 does NOT have rubber tubing installed for electrolyte leaks, whereas the Prius part number G951047062 DOES. The Lexus contactor box also has slightly larger relays onboard. Other than that they seem identical.

The Prius connects all the overflow tubes and there is a drain tube to the under side of the car. The Lexus seems not to have any provision for electrolyte leaks. I guess they just figured that the probability of an electrolyte leak was low enough to delete all these extra parts.
