In Canada the current hybrid component warranty (prius 3rd gen) is 7 years 160,000 km. In the US its 7 yrs /150,000 miles? Am I right? Why the difference? Do some states have better warranties then others. I seem to remember that when I bought my 2005 prius in NH, it had the equivalent of the California warranty which was better then most states.
US is 8 years/100000 miles, On some hybrid parts. In states that have included ALL of the CARB warranty, 10 years/150,000 miles on selected parts. CARB (California Air Resources Board) had mandated Zero Emissions Vehicles, which no one was able to comply with at the time, as a compromise and face saving gesture, CARB allowed Partial ZEV, where the vehicle spends at least part of the time not emitting CO2. Several companies make 'compliance' vehicles they only sell in California. 8 years, 160,000km on both sides of the border. The exception is in CARB states where the hybrid battery warranty is 10 years or 150,000 miles. The hybrid warranty in those states are still 8/100,000 miles. Hybrid warranty includes: hybrid battery (with exception above), battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter. Hybrid transaxle (PSD) and electric motors are covered under the 5 year/100,000km (60,000 mile) powertrain warranty
