Its the overall hybrid trend that is worrying. The liftback dropped 30% last year in the first 2 months versus 2013 in a really bad start of the year. I had hoped for some recovery compared to a really bad start of 2014.

First 2 months of each year, the liftback has dropped 32% versus 2013, while the car market has grown.

The prius c has relatively well, but really its on a totally different platform and a much newer design. The prius phv has done worse, and the prius v down 26% about the same.

I hope next year the gen IV can turn this trend around.

 

ok - got my thought together regarding PiP sales;
It aint just PiP sales waning . . .

GM cutting production at 2 plants as car inventory mounts, sources say

so . . . maybe it's just people think gas will stay cheep - so ... "let's go buy an SUV" mentality.
? just a thought.
