    Hi everyone,

I just bought a Hymotion L5 and I will install the harness at my home. I plan to drive to a friend garage after I have installed the harness, is it possible? Is all connections of the harness (CAN, etc) cut for the harness will prevent the car to work normally. Summary, for those who got a dead battery, what happent if you unplug the Hymotion L5, to get less weight, is the car can drive?

    Thanks
    Patrick

The system should come with a bypass plug.
If not, you'll need to build one.

Ok, thanks for this quick reply. Is there a schematic plan for it. (I think I can figure it out, but it will be faster)

As I see, I only have to connect V1 pin 9 to 12 and pin 10 to 11. But what about the cutted p11 pin 6 (start button interlock), is there something to do with it?

Well you can likely drive without the system in place.
So you are building your own wire harness for it?

No I will get a used harness remove from a used car. I recently bought a used refurbished pack with 4.55 kW from empty. What do you think of the health of the battery? The pack was supposed to be balanced one years ago. I will maybe rebalance it before install it in the car (with the pdf share here on priuschat).

I still don't know what to do with the V1 pin 13 or P11 pin 6.

If you get the harness from the car it will come with the bypass plug.

So the car did not have a pack? And you bought a pack from... where?

Exactly, my prius 2008 doesn't have a pack, I'm gonna convert it to plugin with a used battery hymotion pack and a used harness. Here in quebec, it's cold and I got a engine heater plus a buddy car heater. I will also add a 12V charger for aux battery.

Here is where I got it
    ebay "Hymotion-Plug-In-Hybrid-Kit" #261762230374

    There are somes availables.

    bypass plug.jpg

I have found the answer... in the Hymotion service manual. There is a photo of the bypass plug (added here). So I have to connect V1 pin 13 with V1 pin 8. The Start button interlock should be grounded.

You are one of the brave few to purchase an orphaned product. But it sounds like you gave the right frame of mind about it.
You'll enjoy the system while it works.
Start saving now for any future repairs. That way you'll be ready and not caught off guard.
    Enjoy.

Did this work? I'm hoping to find instructions on removing Hymotion battery but when I disconnected the
connection to battery the car was dead and would not get ready.

If you left the wiring in place did you install the bypass plug?

No. I really did not know that the extra plug attached was a bypass. My daughter has the car back in Atlanta as of today. I will try that and hope I can find a garage that will take the battery out.

Yes it's work. You can bypass interlock in the plug. Don't forget the CAN too, as pictured. If you want permanent remove, I suggest you to verify, habitually, all the harness can be removed and you can reconnect original wires.

Can you email me or post the instructions so I can rig this bypass so I can remove the system and be able to run the car without it?

There should be a bypass plug attached.
Call me if you need help locating it.
It is usually zip tied near the harness connectors on the driver side.
Uplug existing harness. Plug in the bypass connector.

As ericbecky said, you can find bypass plug in your truck, near the hymotion plug. It's the easiest way to remove the kit and you will be able to use your car normally.

If you plan to remove the harness, it's not easy, you should read instruction carefully and replug all original wire, but it's as been placed by human... so human can removed it too...

Here is the link for intructions:

I know someone in Florida that can remove it if you want, write me if you need info.

I have a 2009 with the HymotionL5 Plug in. It failed a couple years ago. I plugged in the bypass plug. Now I would like to remove the battery. If using the bypass plug, can the battery be removed and just leave the harness? Is there must be another plug on the battery end?
