The mass civil disobedience for for most cosmopolitan cities, are caused by neccessity rather than by ill will. The fact that there had been an explosion of number of cars on the highways since the speed limits were set long time ago, what, in the 50's or earlier?

In order to protest the speed limits being set too low, once a newspaper reporter here was charged with public mischief when he and his buddy drove their cars side by side on a 2 lane highway, exactly at speed limit, blocking thousands of cars trailing behind for more than 10 miles long.

The highways simply cannot handle the volumn of cars if all of them drive at the speed limit. The speed limits are simply out-dated. That's why the police are not even ticketing anybody unless you are way faster than the flow zig-zagging to find any hole and tailgating and dangerously changing lane and so on.

They surely will charge you if you drive significantly slower than the speed limit on highways for endangering the public. They can even charge you if you drive AT the speed limit but causing a huge line up behind you.

I suggest that road rage is caused by some drivers' alternative personality triggered by their subconcious dissatisfaction of their own flesh and blood body, thus extending their musclar cars' power into their psyche to compensate.

Claustrophobia or self-dissatisfation compensation, it's a temporary insane state of mind.
