Looking to buy and doing reserach on a one owner car.......So the Toyota Owners website says per the dealer that the hybrid battery needs replacement in the cars last service record. This is for a 2014 with 125k miles on it. The guy I am buying it from got it at auction (I assume the only owner got the dealer report and said Im not spending $3500 on that). The guy I am buying from does take his cars to a Hybrid specialist and that mechanic said the error code was on because of a dirty filter and it caused the battery to show bad. He cant guarantee the battery is good but thinks it is. Thoughts on this from you all? thanks Tim..(this would be my first C if buy)
i wouldn't touch an auction car unless i were a serious diy'er. that being said, i would get tech stream and make my own diagnosis. the 'hybrid specialist' ain't gonna pay for your new battery. but there might be nothing wrong with it. where are you? carb states have 10/150 warranty on the battery edit: maybe 8/100 on the c, and those batteries don't seem to be that robust
Big question in my mind is, why is the guy selling? the other thing is, it must be a decent price for you to be interested with a possible faulty pack. and who is the hybrid specialist? see what bisco says above......
