That happens to any new car, as soon as you drive off the dealer lot, doesn't it? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Well, now Tesla has figured out how to get the $5000 Canadian rebate. They now have a low end Model 3 for Canada that has 93 mile range.
Oh, I get it. Was CA rebate only $1,000 last month? OP said it is now $2,500, and @Cocular said his car depreciated $1,500 since the last month.
Were they advertising the 2020? Was the $2,500 off a local dealer offer or from Toyota? I am still waiting on a 2019 and the only discount I have been offered is a $500 student graduate discount.
And to add to the misery, my power company started a rebate program AND a free L2 Charger program for EVs and plug-ins.... for cars purchased March 15th or later. Which means I get nothing because the lady that hit and totalled my car did so 3 weeks too early.
Albeit 2016, this Autoweek article may explain Toyota's ad campaign for the Prime. Toyota is pointing Prius Prime TV ads at exactly the customers it wants | Autoweek
Alas, "dip their toes into the electric-car market but don't want to take any chances with range anxiety or pay a premium they may not be able to recover in fuel savings." That's me to a T.
OK, so Toyota marketed PRIME to "a very specific consumer: tech-savvy, knowledge-hungry drivers ages 18-49 with household incomes of $75,000 or more and who tend to be environmentally conscious but also economical." Hummmm, how they got me into the market??? I wish I am 18 years old with $75K or more income. lol
i have 3 thirty somethings all making well over 75k, and prime is nowhere on their radar all tech savvy, environmentally conscious and thrifty not sure what knowledge hungry means
I guess I have to sell my Prime, I am well past the upper range. Not sure who they think is buying the Prius (ad targeting not withstanding), I would say that a very high number of Prii I've seen over the years are being driven by people my age to much older.
that's toyota's (and others) problem, and why they are targeting the ads. but who knows how many people fall into that target market, and have access to charging?
