I was standing on my lawn last night for about 15-20 minutes straight holding a hose watering individual dry patches of my yard, moving slowly from patch to patch. This is what really old people do because they have nothing else in their life beyond watering their yard, at least I always thought so. I think this is the first year I've found it therapeutic, but as I stood there I saw the next several decades of my life in front of me, all exactly like this moment, patch to patch spraying the brown bits.

Want to feel young again? Plant native wild flowers instead of grass.

Then find some pretty thing to run through them with.

I would like a young thing to run through that with :)

I have hobbies, actually I"m very busy with projects, but I guess I enjoy watering!

This sounds poetic to me! But, then again, I'm getting old, too...

I think that the endless lawn watering activity happens a few years before the sitting near motionless in a foldable lawn chair near the back of the driveway watching everything going on in or near the street. And for that you will also need to wear the huge plastic sunglasses that fit over your regular glasses plus a flyswatter and a water bottle nearby.

haha funny you say that, I recently installed a security camera to ensure I capture all activity on my front yard. lol, I live in a totally quiet suburban neighborhood, too.

I have one of those moving tractor lawn sprinklers. I sit and watch it go across the yard.

Get to the end. Shut it off. Move it to the next strip. Turn it back on. Light up another cigar. Pop the top on another beer. Repeat. Life is good.

For me the wake up call for old age was when I began to save bread sacks. Then, one day, I started finding uses for the bread sacks. My Granny and Mom used to do that. Must be hereditary.
