I was defining gliding rather loosely as coasting (foot off the gas) or true prius gliding (foot on gas pedal to achieve the zero arrow condition). I should have been clearer.

On a classic Prius, the battery will last a lot longer in neutral than a 2004 and up Prius where the Air Conditioner can be a big load to the battery.

What I do not know is exactly what the Motor Generators do to the inverter if the car is moving fast in neutral. There are big diodes that rectify the M/G output and these do not appear to be isolated when in neutral (or any condition). Short term, no immediate bad effects seem to have been reported. Long term, doing this every day for years may be a different story. Do not want anyone to find out "If you operate in neutral long enough, then ........, and since this is out of warranty, it cost $$$$"
