I admit, this is not a big problem. BUT:
When I had a Plug-in Prius, the USB port was inside the console. I use an iPod Classic for my podcasts and music, and I don't need to refer to the actual iPod when driving, so I kept it inside the console. Nice and tidy.
Now, my Prius Prime puts the USB port outside the console, presumably because fewer people use iPods, and more use their phones for everything. So I keep my iPod inside the console, and the cable snakes out to the USB port.
    Untidy!
Has anyone figured out a clever way to deal with this? I'd rather not drill a hole in the side of my console, and I'd rather keep the iPod nicely tucked away.

You can purchase a 90 degree usb that is also flat.

That way it should help with keeping the clutter down.

tuck the flat wire back inside the console.

I too use iPod connected to USB port and keep it inside the console, and the cable snakes out to the USB port very similar to OP's situation. Now, I am not as worried about tidiness as OP, so the snaking cable does not bother me much. But, with the location of the port and the cover cap for the USB and AUX, I don't think 90 degree USB plug is going to help much for tidying up the cable, IMO. Do you???

Not in that configuration. I would prefer that Toyota put the USB port inside the box, and have a slot or compartment in the box for the device that is being charged.

Did you modify the lid at all or did you find a spot where it won't crush your cable?

Yeah, as OP commented, Gen3 had the USB port (and 12V too IIRC) inside of the console. I have a setup with USB port connected to 4 USB hub with individual switches. This way I can switch between iPod and 3 different USB flash memory on the fly with the switch. I can take one USB memory out to take inside to add more files, and still have 3 others staying inside the car. I keep all of those in the console. No, there is no mod on the console. The cable is being crushed somewhat, but still being able to shut the lid.

Streaming audio on the drives? I have had little luck getting my car to play audio from a USB stick. Perhaps formatting problems?

My USB sticks and iPod are all for music. I have not had much problem playing from USB. Initially I had problem but it was a bad USB stick. After changing to different ones, they have been working fine. Only thing is that if I have too many folders in one USB stick, Toyota does not allow to browse all the folders when car is in Drive for safety reason. That's why I keep three different USB memories each having smaller numbers of folders so I can scan through them all. I use my phone connected via Bluetooth for Audio book exclusively. I have no music files in my phone. This too works perfectly for me with the Auto Play feature which many of you hate.
