Awhile ago I left my Prius c on all night. When
I came to the car in the morning one of my neighbors told me the vehicle was cycling on and off all night. Now I feel like I'm getting a lot worse gas mileage. Did me leaving the car on do something to the battery/electric system?.
My car has 6000 miles. Will Toyota check it if I bring it in there and tell them i think there's something wrong with the battery?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

It will have cycled on and off and not have damaged the car. But you will have burned gas so your tank fuel economy is going to suck.

If unsure you can reset a trip meter so you can see. If the weather's been colder you should check and correct your tire pressures.

Others have made that same mistake, I certainly have. No damage should have occurred. You will learn to look a little closer at he dash prior to exiting, thats all. These cars are so quiet, it is very easy to do that! It's all good though!

You spent a night off and on burning fuel without moving an inch. That's going to kill your fuel economy for that tank.
I would highly doubt it would of caused any damage, just think of it as a unmanned, very long road trip to nowhere. Automobiles are designed to run for long periods. That's all you did....minus the actual movement of the vehicle.

Nothing should have happened since there are threads on the subject of using the car as a generator, which is basically what you did except for the fact that the electricity you generated wasn't used up. Fill up with gas again, reset your trip meter and start fresh.

Exactly. My C was on for 54 hours straight after Sandy, and I took a hit on the mileage for that tank, but there were no other effects.

i have several silly questions as I am new to hybrid and prius C.

what does it mean by the prius C was left on all night? was the key in?

can the car be in 'D' and turn to take key out?

Once see the 'see you' sign on dashboard, that mean I have turn off the car right?

The OP has a Prius c Three which comes w/smart key system. There's no need to put a key in anywhere nor any key to turn in order to power on/start the car. With the smart key inside the car, you just put your foot on the brake and press power. With SKS, one can exit the vehicle (with key on the person) and leave the power on indefinitely, until it runs out of gas. Or, someone can drive away w/o the key, but unless that other person has the smart key on them, if they shut it off, they won't be able to power back up.

    See
    and
    .

For cars w/SKS, one should press power to shut the car off before leaving it. On the Gen 2 and 3 liftback, there's a READY light (to indicate the car's on and ready to go). I don't recall on the Prius c. When the car's powered off, the READY light and all dashboard indicators go out.

Smart key system and similar systems are not Prius nor hybrid specific. There are plenty of non-hybrid that have it available (e.g. Nissan Altima and Versa, except they call it Intelligent Key).

Only real danger is killing your self, maybe others. Well is you park in a garge, which if you do I'd call the cops about your neighbor lol. For real though people have died from co2 when forgetting to turn off their hybrid while parked indoors ish. Watch out for that one.

It's likely not the CO2, but rather the CO, which is a poisonous, odorless gas.

I used mine to jump my garden tractor/snow blower. Remembered after about 5 minutes I left the C running. Got off the tractor, turned off the C. No harm - No Foul.

Yes, the c has the READY light.

One thing with the SKS is that it will get upset if you try to lock the car without turning it off and it will start beeping at you. According to the manual in fact it's enough to simpy carry the key out of the car and close the door behind you to generate a warning, but I've never had that happen... with me it's always the lock attempt that sets it off and you can't miss it, it's always completely embarassing.

When it happens to me, I find that when I open the door and then push the power button, the car does turn off but then the interior beeping starts going off as if to continue berating me for my error, until I close the door again and then it shuts up and I can lock the car normally.

Ditto that. Always lock the thing when you leave it, no matter where. If something's wrong it'll let you know.

I always keep the key on me for this very reason. My C3 beeps anytime I step a few feet out of the car with the smart key in my pocket and the power on. It even gave me the warning beep the other day when I simply got out, left the door open , and went to get my backpack out of the hatch. Regardless it's good to know it doesn't hurt if it is left on for a prolonged period.

I just made the same error and left my priu c in all night. I left it in park. I hope everything is ok. I will make sure I lock the car every time now. I feel so bad.

My C has the annoying lights are on screech... Gen III has auto lights, but noticed somehow the lights got off of auto and on the park light, not sure.. but when I was driving this morning I looked over as the car next to me and saw the reflection of the park lights... so that meant my lights were on all night... I think the Gen III the lights turn off after a certain time if they have been left on regardless of position.

My C on the other hand will bark at you until you turn those suckers off...

Two beeps whenever you close a door while it is running and the key isn't inside. I get this twice per run when running deliveries for work, once for closing the drivers door, and once for closing the rear passenger door behind it.

As mentioned, get in the habit of locking the doors, impossible to leave the car running and lock the doors at the same time. I always (when not running a delivery) punch the lock button on the drivers door right before I close it, if it refuses to lock I know I did something wrong.

If I remember correctly, our car will turn off the lights after 30 mins even when you leave them on... as long as you turn the car off of course.
