You're trying to inflate a rubber bag with a liquid... When it is being pushed in, it will inflate. Remove the nozzle, the bag "falls back onto" the gas and shoots out the spout. Hence the only fill to the click and do it multiple times. Give the bag time to settle.

Ya makes sense. Not really worth it to stand and dilly daddle when I’m filling at Costco and there 4 cars behind me. I’ll try that method of keeping it filled ever trip for a week like the other guy mentioned.

...when I was doing the slow drip method, I was stopping periodically to see if the gaso was going to burp out, and I stopped when I felt it was good enough...not sure how much I could have kept going

When the last pip on your gas meter starts to flash, that normally means you have 2 gallons remaining. At the point, you should be able to put in 9+ gallons

Hmmmm ok let me try that. Still love this car you sold me man! Gets me to and from work with no drama. I can go to downtown LA and not obsess about getting hit by a door ding lol.

I just change the coolant inverter pump 2wks who since it pulled a code and the pump failed. $65 dollars plus $25 for the coolant. Took me 1hr 30 to fix it from start to finish. Super easy. I even removed the headlight so my hand wouldn’t get cut up.

Those pumps seem to average about 100k miles, so the car should be on its 3rd now

Headlight removal is the correct way to do it

I never had luck with filling the next day...the tank knew it was filled the day before and was not going to take more.

Don't lose sight of that "consolation".
Visiting a gas station twice a week, if the savings is significant IMO isn't such a big deal.

I think a lot of people with twice the fuel tank capacity, would still like to trade you for your total MPG.
