All this talk of marking up the G3 Prius is very interesting. Rebel can attest to this as well, the dealership I work at is giving a $500.00 off MSRP break to people that pre order theirs. Just do your research and find a good dealer near you. Good luck.
The Chicago Region is composed of MN, WI, IL & IN. MI, OH, KY & TN are in the Cincinnati Region. ND, SD, NE, KS, IA & MO are in the Kansas City Region. People buy cars from out-of-state dealers all the time. In border areas some dealers can handle the paperwork for several states.
Thank you all for your advice. I will make the rounds on coming saturdays to see if I can find a dealer that I can click with. If not, I have no issue driving to Indianapolis to buy my car. I will be there for the Indy 500 next month, so that may work out? I will start with Grossinger, and Naperville, and see what gives. If anyone has a name or contact number for either of these, I would certainly welcome it sent to me via PM. At the end of the day, once I know pricing (like the rest of us, I am sure), I will know whether I can afford the Adv Tech Package, or 'settle' for a solar package. Either way, I am sure that I will be pleased. If I can find a dealer willing to simply work with me from invoice, and not require any costly dealer markups, I will sign binding contract today. Again thanks all, I appreciate it!
Did something change? Seems the main deal is you get the solar/sunroof ... or you get all the other goodies (aside from colors). The whole numbering thing, I somehow missed that memo.
After reading through www.carbuyingtips.com search for dealers in the area and contact their Internet Sales Departments. You know what you want so there is no point in visiting dealers. IMO $500 off MSRP doesn't sound like a good deal as I don't believe there will be a rush of buyers swarming over the Toyota lots like locusts buying up every 2010 Prius. If I'm wrong then the Prius will have a phenominal 2nd quarter.
Jim, $500 off MSRP is going to be a great deal in my opinion after looking at the allocation numbers for the arriving Prius. From the information that I haver gathered from my inventory manager and talking with some folks over at CATD, they aren't planning on shipping a ton of these vehicles in. I anticipate with the slow down on shipping, we may run into a situation that we had last summer, people want them but they just aren't sitting on the lot like they are now. I know that our dealership has 27 incoming orders placed right now. With the current allocation, our region is only allocated 222 G3 Prius in the first month. Now I don't know that people are going to be rushing to our sowrooms but the fact still remains that they won't be available for a long while.
