I wish my Pri would pollute more, so it could...

    Petrol is (CH2)n
MW of carbon is 12, of hydrogen is 1, of O2 is 32
    Specific Density of Petrol is 737.22 Kg/Meter^3 = .73722 Kg/Liter at 60F
About 99.9% of the carbon becomes CO2 with combustion

    0.73722 Kg/Liter * 2.2 Lbs/Kg * 3.785 Liters/Gallon * 12/14 * 44/12 = 19.3 lbs CO2/Gallon

Sheesh y'all are a picky crew! I said "pretty inert" i.e. relatively unreactive, simply meaning that that there's not a catalytic converter that can do anything about it. If there was, we wouldn't have a greenhouse gas problem! I'm very also very happy with the prius' combination of low emissions and high MPG (therefore lowered CO2 emissions)!

Sorry priusblue I don't mean to be picky. CO2 is just a hobby of mine. But your GreenHybrid mpg is better'n mine, so my hat's off to you.

If you come up with a anti-CO2 catalyst be sure and let me know! The Earth's silicate rocks trapped gobs (gobs I say) of CO2 before the first algae said boo. But rocks are so heavy to carry. And slow.

No biggie - I didn't know about the silicate rocks - I'll have to look into that!
