it was set to private, so I edited the video and changed it to public.

  4. At 7:27, you're pulling about 100 amps from the battery... and it stays on electric only.

Then at 7:29, the current and acceleration drop, but DRCC kicks in, and that's when your engine goes back on.

Admittedly, I rarely use cruise control, so that's why I have not observed (or tried to observe) that behavior on my Prime.

According to what I see you drove 2 miles and used 1% of the battery. You may have been going downhill, because in the next two miles your battery was down to 90% Could it be that when you engaged the cruise control it immediately went into a regenerative braking which required the ICE to kick in since the battery was nearly full? I'm asking because there have been other post which claim that regenerative braking when the battery is full or nearly full causes the ICE to come on to provide resistance...

It would be interesting to know what your climate control settings were. Is there any way to pull that video back so that we can see the upper Dash as well as the lower dash with the silhouette view of the car and the direction of the current flow

I was but you wouldn't be able to tell without Google elevation stats because it'e not that great of a decline in elevation.

ICE in my case only comes on when it's below 50 F It has never kicked in when the temperature was above 50 F when I have driven this same road under that same circumstances

Your car is acting like it is in HV mode despite the EV Mode designation on the dash.

Correct but without touching the usual mode switch. Then after ~2 mi., it flips back into EV.

At this point we are trying to find ways to replicate the symptom which is why video recording is to important. The camera captures what our brains might edit out.

Keep in mind that when you are in HV mode it will automatically switch to EV mode for short distances specifically coasting and downhill. Maybe your car is not going back into EV mode but is merely using electricity as it normally does an HV mode. If that is indeed the case it would seem that the computer is not recognizing any of your traction battery charge. It may be that the temperature issue is just a coincidence. Although not recommended by most people on this website, I would think a visit to the dealership maybe in your near future.

Couple of other things. When you activate the cruise control and see the pop-up screens appear, if you quickly press the back button on the right side of the steering wheel it will eliminate the pop-up probably rather than wait the four or five valuable seconds in which the original way is not viewable. Also it would be interesting to know whether or not the same issue occurs when you're using conventional cruise control. To engage that press the on button for the cruise control and hold it for a couple seconds.

maybe the temp sensor that tells the engine when it is too cold for the battery is faulty.

This is why TechStream may be needed. As a general rule of thumb, a temperature thermistor has lower voltage as the temperature goes up. But if there were an intermittent 'open', a temperature sensor could show an exceptionally low value. However, the OP has posted seeing the same symptom with a rental. I've only seen it twice.
