    +1.

The only thing I would add is that even if you're one of the many people that are never able to charge the Prime at home, it's STILL the better Prius to buy.
It's essentially the same car and the rebates put it more or less in the same price range as a wireless Prius......and if you live where people's idea of being eco-chic is affluent people buying certain cars to drive solo in a "High occupancy Vehicle" lane, then the PP will be more valuable when it comes time to trade it in.

    YMMV.

Thanks for the info and thought provoking questions:

    1. Looking fine on mileage on the Volvo. I will replace a rim that my wife did a bunch of damage to during a snow storm.
    2. I'm sure if we purchased I would be driving it when it makes sense (which is quite a bit of the time). Then it will become her daily driver after the lease is up on her Volvo (I have a call in to see about returning it early potentially although I doubt it will make financial sense).
    3. We are all set on the 220V as that's what we use for my wife's Volvo. Can plug the Prius into a 110V in the meantime. We have another 220V wired that just needs a different receptacle placed on it or a charge station purchased and installed. Right now on our operational 220V we just use the supplied cord from Volvo with the proper receptacle. There is a program here in Nebraska that pays you to purchase a wall charger but it still probably doesn't make it worth it financially, but we might do it anyhow. Our out of pocket would be $200.
    4. Ya, I just don't know. If chip shortages affect the Prius Prime I will have wished I'd have bought one.

I have owned 3 Priuses prior (2008 and two 2010s), so I kind of know what we are getting into. We have a large 3 row SUV for kids and family travel as well as a Jeep (soon to be full size pick up) for work/travel purposes. The Prius Prime would be my wife's vehicle for her short drives to work (15 miles round trip) and I would likely take it when going on a trip when I don't need a lot of cargo space requirements. Same way we use the Volvo now for the most part, but the Prius Prime will be more efficient and more cost effective. Of course it won't ride as nice as the Volvo or have the same luxury feel but I think we both just find it not wise to sink a bunch of cash into her daily driver as little as she drives. As reasonable as the Prime is priced and cheaper insurance and registration, etc. it seems to make a whole lot of sense for us. Meanwhile it still has some nicer features for a car its price -- HUD, heated steering wheel, heated seats, all the safety stuff, etc.

Why wouldn't you buy now, you can literally sell a used Prime for profit even in states without any state incentives.

I can't get out of my lease early, but we could purchase our Volvo and sell it and likely make a little money but might not be worth the hassle. I'm still in a holding pattern. Thanks again everyone for the input!

Basically. Try getting a Carvana estimate for a 2020 Prius Prime with a year's worth of miles for you. In my case they are offering more than what I bought mine new for with 0 miles.

Thanks again guys! Starting to seem like a lot of the discounts are drying up a bit. Been poking around in Maryland and New England.

Was there some magic incentives I just missed?

I'm looking at buying one now and its all list price or higher.

Some states had $500 of the incentives go away. Others went up a bit (New England to $5500) but the discount from the dealers seem lower.

Will be interesting to see what the gas shortage does - maybe make the Prime a bit more popular?

Probably what's going on in the Northeast right now. Been getting a few "MSRP minus the rebate" is our offer emails.

The general shortage of new cars will also impact prices.

I might be answering my own questions in the OP ... should've bought :) I'll probably wait and see what's up in the late fall/early winter now. I do have plans to fly out East sometime this summer so that could come into play as well.

I just had a Boston area dealer tell me in regards to me flying out and driving one back to Nebraska. So now they don't want to sell to people outside their area?

    "Hello,

Unfortunately, we are not selling vehicles so far out of New England.
The pipeline has been throttled to the point where we have to have enough vehicles for our local market.

    Good luck on your search."

Gearing up to make another run at a Prius Prime on the East Coast down the stretch here at the end of this month nearing the end of the rebate time period. Wish me luck! At this point I'll take anything off of MSRP as long as I'm in a $5500 rebate state.

Compared to the prices in the midwest, $5500 off MSRP + $4500 tax break isn't anything to be ashamed of. Then again, it's the end of the month, you never know.

I snagged one for close to $1000 off MSRP as well (but the doc fee was just under $500 so ...). Felt pretty happy just to find one with a discount in the color I desired.
