Over the past month, I'm seeing more SPAM with disturbing attributes:
    • claimed 'Facebook' source but hovering over does not show a true e-mail address
    • claimed 'security' with dead password in subject text
Phishing emails try to look legitimate with an embedded URL to a trojan site to steal your password(s). This was how the Democratic mails were captured in 2016. Take care!

About 2 months ago, I noticed my main Gmail account started getting a few "true" spam messages coming to the inbox that I had to manually mark as spam. That's pretty unusual for my account. It's like Gmail changed their filters. In the past, they'd go straight to the spam folder. Not a biggie, just a change I noticed.

i don't get any. could it be the lack of connection to a political party?

Nope, that cuts out only the political fundraising appeals. Spammers and phishers use plenty of non-political sources and data breaches for their lists.

Regardless, I shared both with the Gmail security team. Hopefully they will have luck hunting them down.

My Safari web browser just warned me about a Facebook security breach about the same time that an elderly friend was asking how to get back into her FB account. I changed my password immediately.

Beside the spam emails Bob mentioned, I'm getting tons of spam text messages. Not to mention a dozen phone calls a weeks with computerized voices expressing their extreme concern over my car's extended warranty. So much for Washington's and the phone providers' promises to put a stop to that.

I’m not on Facebook either, but I still get e-mails from “UPS” claiming a package is being delivered, and “Amazon” and “Netflix” and “Google” claiming my account will be shut down. I probably got one or two from “Facebook” too.

huh. i have gmail, and only get a spam every once in a great while. maybe i'm just not active enough on social media, or the internet as a whole.

i don't own a phone, maybe that has something to do with it.

The usual bandits then. The organisation where I work receives a ton of spam email per day. The senders have gotten so overconfident, they’re now literally sending them in the original Russian Language! We use Google Enterprise G-Suite.
