Induction Upgrade

    Anyone know the benefit of this kind of induction setup?

    I see Samco UK have started selling this kit, part number TB4011, clip kit for it is part number CKTB4011, have emailed them but have yet to recieve a reply.

    Looks like it eliminates one resonating chamber which may increase noise but should smooth/speed airflow

    I was wondering what those chambers were for, just noise cancelling hey?

    Maybe Samco expect better throttle response, well lets see if they reply to me!

    This could result in a whistling sound as air passes the butterfly.

    When I put in a D3 CAI on my CTS, it made a noticeable whistle just above 3k RPM but under WOT it sounded sweet.

    My thoughts as well. I guess it could make your Prius incrementally faster because your wallet would be lighter. ;)

    Ok, so I drank the Kool Aid....

    I liked it and thought I'd give it a try. So after a few emails and a couple of phone conversations with Samco Sports UK. Here it is. Took 3 months? And they said it was the first one they've sent to the US.

    No whistling sounds or add horsepower, but I thought it was cool. :D

    The red Tanabe STB will be replaced also. Stop by Cusco today and pick up theirs. Just want the blue.

    At least you're not sucking in warm/hot air from the engine compartment. What is that small box on the side of the OEM intake for?

    You could've just painted or PlastiDip'd the Tanabe brace. :rolleyes:

    I live in the UK and actually ordered mine about 4 weeks ago, got an email yesterday to say it will be with me today so I'll upload photos when I've got it and fitted it.

    Pitty no extra induction noise etc, will see what happens when fitted.

    I ordered mine in black just to match the rest of the engine bay.

    I see a lot of the Jap tuners upgrade this pipe as they say you gain better throttle response, and I did read exhaust note but I suppose we will see.

    Here is my Samco Induction Pipe, delivered this morning. Went for black as would blend in with the rest of the engine bits.

    Came with 3 jubilee clips and at first impression has a noticeably bigger O/D than the stock pipe, and when you look into the pipe certainly a bigger I/D, which can only be a good thing to let more flowing air to the throttle body.

    After starting the car and hitting the throttle they is a noticeable induction whistling sound that wasn't present before. Yay!!!

    After going for a quick drive there feels to be better throttle response even in ECO mode.

    I also have a K&N panel filter that I fitted the day I bought the car which added a deeper exhaust note.

    All together very happy! Well done Samco, it's good to see you making parts for non performance cars!
