insulating the exhaust heat recovery system

    anyone trie pipe insulation on exhaust heat recovery system...looks like it be safe enough
    anyone have ideas
    could speed up heating up...
    could be done on white/pink? pipes in picture

    No have not done it, but I am also interested in what can be done to improve MPG in the first 5-minutes warm-up. The other option might be something like an engine block heater for this area. Of course, presumably before you do this you would block the grill and insulate under the hood. Seems to me Plug-In Prius could have engine block heater and cat converter heater built in function after the battery is charged.
