I've noticed my interior lights flash (hitting a bump, making a turn) if the hatch is not fully closed but I do not get the door open icon on the display.

you should have your latch adjusted. mine closes properly, every time, without slamming.

The solution is to fully close the hatch. ;)

It's possible that the door open display may not react fast enough to be seen for a transient switch activation.

I'd have to agree on this one.
I've had a few instances when I first got my car where my interior lights would flash and a warning light come on after loading things into my trunk, but I solved the issue by closing the rear hatch more firmly. If you repeatedly have the problem after being more deliberate with your door, then I'd consider taking it back to the dealer to be adjusted or looked at.

I pushed the hatch closed, not enough it appears but it is still disconcerting when you think it is closed, interior lights flash for no apparent reason and three is no door open indication.

Try purposefully slamming the hatch down to see if it's a switch sensitivity issue. If the flashing goes away, you can either continue to slam it down, or take your car into the dealer and ask why the door requires you to slam it down to make sure the interior lights don't flicker. Be sure to mention throughout you did not receive a door ajar warning light.

+1 either close the hatch or get it fixed.

You will soon drain your 12v battery and cause other more severe problems

I noticed on the front and center dome light, there's an auto off on my Prius if it stays on longer than a certain amount of time. I noticed this when I was working on the car. I guess it's a way to ensure the battery doesn't get drained.
