Ipod classic bug on 2012 Prius

I've tried listening to podcasts by connecting my ipod classic to through the USB port. You can sometimes listen to one podcast but if you try to change it often gets the title wrong or repeats the same podcast while showing a different name on the display. I've tried shutting down the ipod and turning off the radio but nothing seems to work. This bug happens every day no matter what I've tried. I would like to control the ipod using the cars radio but it just doesn't seem to work so I've just connected it through the AUX input which means I need to control things though the actual ipod which is not that practical. I'm just wondering if there is some kind of solution to this problem.
