Interesting - they must have changed it after 2016 sometime.

I assume yours is the original battery - it's unusual that it says something about "Distributed by TOYOTA USA" - as though it may not be the original. Or are PRIUS being made in USA nowdays?

Quit spreading your FUD. It is a flooded lead acid battery.

That is not the factory battery. The car & OEM battery were made in Japan.

fear, uncertainty and doubt? no, just saying it is not a normal battery. in regards to size and fitment, you have not shown otherwise.

the question was: will a dealer honor their $99. 12v battery special, and my answer was no, that is only for normal batteries.
a toyota dealer will honor it for a camry (normal) but not for a prius (abnormal) i.e. rare and expensive

If that's the case - my assumption is that they may have replaced it before they sold it to you - possibly it was left flat?

In which case - stop worrying for another 7 years as it's under a huge warranty.

I just started another thread on this, because of the voltage readings I'm seeing on this battery, whatever its source. Worry isn't quite the right word, though I'm not in a situation where car malfunction-induced lateness is acceptable -- so I'm getting ahead of it early -- before it becomes critical. And again, the car is two weeks old (to me) so I've got Toyota dead to rights on the wty.

I've asked the Moderators to move the new thread back here - otherwise we've now got 3 threads running in parallel about the same issue.

Stop worrying - you've got years and years left on your warranty.

Either way works for me, the issues are distinct, but pretty close...

BUT.....there is NO reason that a replacement can't be an AGM type, when the time comes.
Maintenance free and likely longer life.

NAPA The Legend Professional Battery BCI No. NA 445 A Wet
    Part # : BAT 75140R
    Product Line :
    NAPA Batteries

A friend called, frantic, after our wonderful Guam Dealership quoted her $900 installed. I found this identical battery at NAPA. Even on Guam it was $203.

Grabbed a toolbox and ran over, was stunned to find out you don't even have to take apart the back end of a Gen 4 (we have a Gen Two, a Gen 3, and a V). Its right under the hood, like a normal car, so took ten minutes.

I needed a 12 km socket, extension and ratchet, a 10 mm socket, a 10 mm wrench and a little common decency saved her $700. Unconscionable.

Yep - I sent it to a mate - he suggested that they used something like a squadron of these to handle it.

    upload_2021-5-13_23-6-36.png

MEANWHILE - this was in the news today ... nothing to do with 12km sockets, nor batteries, nor PRIUS - only thing relevant is that it's got 4 wheels - well, here it is.

For the metric challenged Americans we have been joking about a 7 mile wrench. 12km vs 12 mm

The best part -- for decades I have made understanding and using the metric system a primary focus of my freshman level science classes. Makes the km vs mm typo that much better.
