Is better to schedule or just charge?

    In other words, it's not for sale. Those rates make off-grid solar look like a bargain.

    Sometimes people think Californians are going crazy with solar because we're all tree-huggers with a lot of money. They don't understand the economics involved. Spending upwards of $50,000 on solar isn't that crazy when you factor in a 26% tax credit and those electricity rates.

    Just using 1,000 kWh a month, which isn't crazy with a pool, electric car(s), and central air, can cost over $300 a month. That's enough to finance $80,000 (before tax credit) over the 25 year life of the system. Anything less is money in the pocket. Especially when you consider that the interest is tax deductible and that rates aren't going to remain steady over 25 years, but your $300 loan payment will.

    Totally agree.

    When we lived in Honduras, our house was a small 2-bedroom, under 900 square feet. We kept the thermostat at 81F. Typical electric bill in the warmest months was around $400. And that was for power that was only on about 80-90% of the time.
