Was discussing Prius models with another Prius liftback owning relative.
I called the new station wagon like model the "V" the other fellow said that it is not V, but Roman numeral 5.
Now I read on this site that the Roman numeral designation was only used on the 2010 models.

Someone correct me on this so I can call it by the correct name, is the wagon version of the Prius a "V" or a "5" ? TIA.

The wagon version is a v (small v, pronounced vee, which apparently stands for versatile). The 2010 V is roman numeral 5.

In 2010, the Prius liftback had packages designated I, II, III, IV, and V (Roman Numerals).

When the Prius v (vee) station wagon came out, the Prius Liftback packages were designated 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Correct on the 1st point. For reference, for the OP, Toyota Vehicles : Toyota Announces Prices for 2010 Prius / Toyota uses the Roman numerals. Prius I, and Other News | PriusChat still used it, since it was still MY 2010.

The changeover to the 1,2,3,4,5 or One, Two, Three, etc. actually happened before the Prius v wagon was announced. See MY11 Prius | PriusChat.

At the time, we all thought nothing of it... It made more sense once the v wagon was announced later.

Prius 1-5 plus Prius v is just as confusing as the other manufacturers and their XTS, MKZ, CTS, STS, MKS...........
