Is it 'ok' to be a republican, NRA member, Christian who eats LOTS of meat and own a Prius?

I'm not a tree hugger - I fly airplanes for fun... (you can rent them 'wet' for 110 an hour or so)

I ride offroad motorcycles on the weekends and change my oil twice a month on that badboy.

I encourage and support nuclear power plants (very good source of energy) - building of more refineries etc... Less government - less taxes - gun toting, Rush Limbaugh listening American Meat eater.

Is it... 'ok' for me to own a Prius? I'm not driving it to 'save the earth' - I'm driving it because it's a nice car with lots of cool gadgets that's easy on the pumps...

I know there are alot more 'cost effective' cars out there.... but rather simply..

I'd rather give my cash to the Japs - not the OPEC scum...

Yes - this is a trolling post - but i'm seriously curious to see what this crowd will say - *puts on flame retardant suit*

Yes, of course it's "OK" to drive a Prius, for whichever reason you choose. And the more folks driving them, the better.
However, it is not "OK" to refer to Japanese people as "Japs". I suspect that Rush Limbaugh says it, though.

Didn't see that one coming. I like to jump out of airplanes and ride off-road too.
However, I suppose we won't be running into each other at any vegan restaurants anytime soon. There are groups that can help you with the NRA/republican thing - but at the end of the day, you drive a Prius. I'd wave anyways.

    Cheers!

You're welcome...if you put this kind of post into Fred's House Of Pancakes forum.

And I'm ok with all that stuff....except the Rush Limbaugh part....my initial impression of you was that you were smarter than that.

No, it's not. As I've read elsewhere on PC, you should return the car to the dealership, and they should report themselves to the Sierra Club immediately for failing to properly administer the 100-question test on AlGor's movie before allowing you to buy a Prius.

Seriously, WELCOME. Maybe we should start a Wingnuts Driving Prii Club for Florida! :D

And please limit yourself to trashing white, conservative Christians. Terms such as caveman, homophobe, knuckle-dragger, planet-hater, and warmonger are acceptable and encouraged. But don't ever be caught trimming two syllables off of "Japanese" again. ;)

To Japanese people, that term is very offensive- just like "spic","kike", and the n-word. But if you don't give a crap if you offend a race of people, knock yourself out and avail yourself of your First Amendment rights.

American liberals temper theirs with a healthy dose of self-righteousness, however. :D

Like Jeremiah, liberals often have trouble selling their message even if it is right and correct. So those who do not heed his warnings often pay the price in the long run. Like we havn't seen that scenario played out before. :)

Obviously I'm talking about U.S. liberals since our country is so screwed up we can't even get political definitions to work with the rest of the worlds definitions. No metric system for us either! lol

Forget the “identifier†it’s easer to accept a person just knowing they are of the human species.

I ride offroad motorcycles on the weekends and change my oil twice a month on that badboy.

In time past, I also rode. Not off road to much as I had a 74ci Harley. Loved it! In the early 50’s I rode with the Galloping Goose and Hell’s Angeles out of Eagle Rock & Glendale. Those were the days.

I encourage and support nuclear power plants (very good source of energy) - building of more refineries etc... Less government - less taxes - gun toting, Rush Limbaugh listening American Meat eater.

Well, here we may have a difference …….. Nuclear is good, more refineries I have a problem, I feel the Hydrogen cell/conversion approach would be a good refinery. If the Republican Party were to revert to their original thinking, they may have a shot in 2008. Somehow their thinking has become a bit on the socialist leaning without the benefits to the people. The Party seems to lean toward the “me†syndrome and forget about the real people in this great country. We all should carry a 9mm. As to Rush, I can find my entertainment elsewhere. And the macho identifier, “meat eater†can be lived with,

Is it... 'ok' for me to own a Prius? I'm not driving it to 'save the earth' - I'm driving it because it's a nice car with lots of cool gadgets that's easy on the pumps...

In spite of the slight variances in our thinking, I am of the opinion, everyone should drive a Prius! I parted with a beautiful Chrysler and have no mis giving’s! In fact the Prius has more room than the Chrysler; I am 6’3â€. Has a better ride than the Chrysler, has more “toys†to amuse me, than the Chrysler and sad to say cost more than the Chrysler.

I know there are alot more 'cost effective' cars out there.... but rather simply..

I'd rather give my cash to the Japs - not the OPEC scum...

The techniques the Japanese employ in their business/manufacturing process was taught to them back in the early 50’s by a guy named “Demingâ€. The Japanese listened, paid close attention, took the information presented and achieved greatness.

I am going to assume you have the intellect to make an informed decision and there should be sufficient data in this Chat Forum to comply with becoming informed.

This Forum was of great assist in my purchase. By the way I purchased via COSTCO! I purchased the 2007 with the #6 package including leather, added my assortment of scanners, detectors and such an am now enjoying every drive. It was the American thing to do.

    <span style="color:#ff0000">Please don’t take this as a “flameâ€.

The service writer at the Toyota dealer did a double take at my NRA sticker in the back window, shook his head and said "Now, that's a first".

But it has served its purpose ... I don't get flipped off quite as often as I used to.

TC, I could have written that word for word. The only thing I'm missing is the NRA membership. I do own guns, just not a member. I love the gadgets.

Anyone else just make up a nonsense phrase for the speech recognition to see if it comes up with something other than "pardon?"

Consider prius ownership your first step on the road to recovery.

Your views sound good to me. Maybe not Rush, but the rest sounds good. Calling the Japanese "Japs" is probally wrong. Growing up during the Second World War the name I most remember for the Japanese is "Nips", not proper either. I also remember when most products from Japan after the war were junk and if you wanted quality you should buy German products. Not so anymore. The Japanese take pride in their work and their country. Plus they support the USA in most causes.

I too suffer from being a conservative Christian who owns several weapons, flys, listens to conservative talk radio, and actually owns two prius's. I thought I was the only one!!! Welcome, brother! :) I actually believe the Bible is God's Word and that He created all we see in six literal 24 hour days. Is there any hope for me? Perhaps if I read Algore's book, take prozack, seek grief counselling, wear colored ribbins on my lapel I might be accepted? Seriously, Welcome. :D

PriusChat is a good forum for information regarding the car, but be prepared to endure plenty of liberal hate and derision in FHOP. And there are a few conservatives that put forward tired arguments too. Most here on both sides are ok though.

Can't take a taste of your own medicine? Too bad.

What is written on PriusChat is mild in comparison to what is said on conservative talk radio or on right wing pundits' talk shows on the cable news channels.
