Is it Prudent to Neutral at 60 mph Down a Hill ?

    No more so than the even larger engine drag in the same situation on my past cars.

    Most drivers have that pattern ingrained in their intuitive driving habits, so its absence would cause other drivabilty issues and user errors.

    I find it difficult to software glide it with the go pedal but I've only had it for about a month. I'm driving the Civic Hybrid today...much easier to find to find the glide point with my right foot.

    The go pedal, steering response and outward visibility are all better in the Civic.

    It's not engine braking unless you're in B mode. It's v mild regen braking. See Mendel's post above.

    For the regular D mode mild regen, call it 'synthetic engine braking'.

    It isn't true engine braking or drag (except when the HV battery is 'full', then it does break over to real engine drag), but it artificially creates the same effect.
