    Hi all,

I'm hoping some current Prius owners may be able to help me out!

Currently, the new 2015 Prius Two base model is being marketed in my area at $21,288 (dealer fees included, tax, tag, title not included). I've been quoted as low as $20,727 just through a first inquiry, with an OTD of around $23,000.

Is this a price range at which I need to jump at immediately? I had hoped on purchasing my vehicle in May on my college graduation weekend, but if this is a super amazing deal I don't want to miss it!

hard to predict. with gas prices slowly rising, and summer driving around the corner, now may be the best time. but who knows for sure?

    Thanks for your input!

Yes, is that not the correct term?

The Prius for 2016 will be redesigned. If that does not mean anything to you then I think the deal you mentioned on the 2015 is a good deal and probably as good a time as any to buy. My opinion.

The wags say gas prices will not be going up soon. They will drift up and down for a while, but the "glut" of oil isn't going to end soon. The producing countries are still playing games. Prices may go up in Summer as people drive a lot, using fuel faster than the refineries make it. But the crude they use is still being over-produced. So the supply/demand equation will probably only be affected by refinery capacity.

Or when 2016 models are on the lot and the dealers are using factory money to unload the older design? (The $21,258 sounds like there is $1k already in play.)

Does gas go up or down (still a glut of crude and the refinery strikes seem to be over)?

There is always a newer better model just around the corner.

Do you have a job after graduation? The ability to pay would be my major concern. It was when I graduated but my uncle sam said he wanted me and I had income before graduation so I bought before graduation.

There is always a newer better model just around the corner is correct. I have been hearing that all my life and when you play that game you usually end up in the poor house.

Thanks for your input everyone! I just got to test drive the Prius and I LOVED it. Going to see what we can work out!

Yes, I actually have a full time job now, which I've held for 3 out of my 4 college years. I guess it's not that I can't afford it, but rather the excitement of going car shopping on graduation weekend...feels a little more earned that way. :) But maybe that's just silly!

Never shop when your emotions are in full swing...they can smell you coming. Go directly to the fleet manager for better pricing and fewer games. If you have a few Dealerships in your radius, work them all. Buy at the end of the month when they are more willing to deal to make their numbers. Congratulations for sticking out College.

I have same year and trim (WGM). Mine altogether is $21,157.26 (371.18 monthly payments)

Got mine mid-december due to Jeep breakdown, and Toyota dealer I went to was a family friend. I say go for it. And if I may... go WGM.. *cough cough*

I'm not in the U.S. but it sounds pretty good to me (doesn't a brand new one sticker for $24,500 before fees and taxes?). Also, to put it into perspective, when the Gen 3 came out in May 2009, it was listed at $22,000 MSRP and had fewer standard features that the 2015.

Consider the rebates, financing, and Toyota's recent college graduate program.

The price is great, you might get it for $199 less or $299 more, so I think you can wait if you want, however I might suggest that the selection is probably as good as it's going to get for the 15's so, it your choice.

A good time to buy is the end of THIS month as it is also the end of the sales quarter. Dealers are more willing to "cut a deal" to close out the quarter on a good note. Also they won't want to pay flooring costs for another month. When we bought our 13 it was on the last day of March and the car we purchased had been in inventory for almost 3 months. My wife loves her winter grey with solar roof :)

Now is not the best time.

When the 2016 is released and the 2015 is a leftover, will be the best time.
