Maybe I'm a little late here, but I live in Japan and my folks send some Simpsons episodes and some of the other decent TV shows now airing in the States (rare as they may be) to me now and then.

An ad for the new Monopoly game came on and I could swear that a Prius, or something that looks a lot like it, is the new Monopoly car. I think there's even a Toyota logo on the hood. It's hard to tell from the paused commercial but, is that a little Prius?

If so, Right On Pri-chan! I would probably buy the game just for that reason alone and paint the car blue with tough up paint.

    Can anyone confirm my suspicions?

Yes, it is the " Here and Now" edition of the Monopoly game.

    Yes it is

Oddly enough, I saw on on the shelf at a store but when I picked it up and looked at it, there wasn't any Prius on the cover. Are there two versions of "here and now" ?

The company that makes it has a customer service spot on their website. I wonder how many people have contacted them to say that the Prius was missing from their set and to send them a new one......even though they didn't buy the game. :)

There's a picture and a mention of the game on the Toyota.com/Prius web page.

I checked out the Monopoly website and it looks like many of the game pieces are brand name products. How much do you think all of those companies paid to get Monopoly to use their products? That's pretty strong and enduring advertising.

Actually, from what I understand, it was more the other way around. They didn't pay to be icons, but were selected by the makers of Monopoly.
