Is the Internet making us all dumber?

I did say it's a silly movie.

I bet they said that about the invention of the abacus. (I went through school with an abacus and a slide rule. Actually two of each: a full-size one for use at home, and a small version of each to carry with me. As late as the late 1970's or early 80's I used a slide rule to take my amateur radio exams. I didn't quit using it until I got my solar-powered calculator. I really felt bad, like I was betraying a childhood friend!)

Seriously, though, Socrates said that reading and writing would make people stupider, because they would lose the ability to remember stuff if they could have it written down.
