My iPhone 13Pro does not charge at all, ever. Even without a case on. I gave up.

What lights do you see in the charging slot when you insert the phone?

It is about the same with both my husband's Samsung 10e and my Samsung 20. We use the charge plug (to the right of the data cable) to charge the phone that is wirelessly connected to AA.

Personally I always found regardless of the phone and whether it was in a case or not, that wireless charging has always made my phone get hot. Part of the reason why I actually like not having the wireless charger.

The phone will also warm up when using features like GPS and wireless AA/Carplay.

any phone case will also make it harder for the phone to cool itself down since there's an insulating layer on the thing - made worse if its a drop protective case with rubber+plastic layer. Made worse by the wireless charger slot being a largely enclosed space in the car, and with a tighter fit with less airflow with the case on as another layer of heat insulation. And if you have any sort of metal anything near the wireless charging zone it will make the heat generation much worse since a magnetic field is used to transfer the energy

Reminds me of when it was super common to have shelving for TV audio receivers and set top boxes with doors and semi-open backs. If the space is just too small (even if the thing would technically fit) then heat would cause problems.

Phones will shut down certain features - like wireless charging - when they get too hot to protect themselves. Its a common issue among a lot of cars from what I've seen with these kinds of charging slots. Hopefully one day car manufacturers add a small fan to these slots to circulate air and help reduce heating issues.

I searched Amazon and did not see the rubber insert liners. Can you provide either the product's name or a link to Amazon? Thanks.

I already posted this, but apparently my post did not "take". I could not find the rubber insert liners on Amazon. Can you please provide a link or the product's name as shown on amazon.com? Thanks. TM

I have figured out a trick to get the wireless charger working more reliably: turn it on after inserting the phone. There’s only a small range of locations where it will work, but for my iphone 15 pro, it’s about a finger’s width between the front of the slot and the top of my phone.

It still makes the phone quite hot, so I don’t like to use it, but it does work now.

The wireless charger isn't working good in my wife's new Corolla, either. Even after taking off the cover, the iPhone will turn the light yellow but then will start blinking soon after.
And no USB ports, has 4 USB-C so most of our lightning wire cables aren't usable....bummer.

The only iPhone, still available, that is centered on Prius 2023-2024 QI charger and that has a very small camera bump is SE (third generation). iPhone SE with a case has 69 mm width and center of QI charger is at 34.5 mm from bottom. iPhone SE, with a thin case, has a flat back and is very near QI charger. All other iPhone are not charging correctly because of their very big camera bump or thick case. From Prius 2023 manual:

    ■ Situations in which the function may not operate normally:

●Any of the following objects that is 0.08 in. (2 mm) or thicker is stuck or installed between the charging side of the smartphone and the charge area.

    • Thick cases or covers

    • A case or cover attached with an uneven or tilted surface, so that the charging side is not flat

    • Thick decorations

    • Accessories, such as finger rings, straps, etc.

●When there is a gap between the charging side of the smartphone and the charge area due to a protrusion such as a camera on the charging side of the smartphone.

Mine didn't work until someone showed me the "on" switch inside the slot.
I don't charge my phone in there because the reception is not great there.
I got a dash-mounted wireless charging cradle instead. I have posted pictures of it previously.

I can't find any information in the owner's manual that says what the meaning of the flashing and solid amber lights mean (I assume the solid green light means fully charged). I assume one means it's charging, and the other means it's not in the right position to charge. But which amber light is which? Also, it doesn't say if the position of the phone matters--with the charging port facing the front or rear of the car, and with the phone's screen facing the driver's side or the passenger's side. Does anyone know? I actually called Toyota and they didn't know! They confirmed that in the owner's manual for my 2024 Prius, it describes the older style charging tray, which is not what my car has, which is totally strange that they would have gotten it wrong. And I just bought the car, too, so it's been around for a whole year. Has no one else called in to ask?

Honestly I don't remember. Just turn it on before you put the phone in and see what it is. (I think solid, but I just haven't paid attention). Whatever that is, charging is the other one. I rarely use it because it gets so hot, though. I have a Samsung S20.

I turned my charger off after getting a physical charging cable, but I was able to use it with my LG V60 ThinQ phone with a thin clear plastic case. Someone with an iPhone (mini?) was able to get the charging working all of 1 time without a case after multiple attempts, then could not reproduce their success.

From what I recall, green was the ready color. I only saw this when my phone wasn't in the charging slot.
Flashing amber indicated that my phone was in the charging slot, but not charging for some reason.
Solid amber indicated that my phone was charging. If your phone gives an indication (screen turns on, a vibration, etc.) when it receives power, you can use this to figure out if the wireless charger is actually working.

The orientation that works for my phone is:
    Phone screen facing the driver
Charging port at the bottom of the phone should point to the back of the car
