Is there life after knobs, buttons and switches are all gone?

Yes. It's the 6" screen which is very nice. My 2797 is a 7" screen. The newest version of it is slightly cheaper 6.95" DriveSmart 61 LMT-S $249.99.

 

Our current is Garmin 2350, physical horizontal dimension of it is roughly 4.75". Maybe when they say 6" that's a diagonal? I've got ours suction base mounted in the little triangle corner window, and I'd suspect 6" would be about the largest that would fit there.

You could trim a piece of paper/card stock to the dimensions above, tape to the front of your existing Garmin to check the fit.

You have to read the fine print on the specifications for each model. There are some important differences between each model including the ability to update using WiFi, and the speed with which it updates data from traffic information. The Model 52 that I saw, appears to have the ability to use your phone traffic information so that you get more up-to-date information. I ended up calling the people at tech support, who gave me some insights on what was the best model for me. I think the DriveLuxe series is their best, most sophisticated series.
