Is this a decent deal on a 2004 with 220k liles?

This was in answer to someone asking the OP how many miles driven per year.

2-3K is NOT enough to justify owning a Prius unless you're an enthusiast.

15-20K+ miles is really necessary to justify the more expensive hybrid battery replacement versus a standard car.

Buy a Corolla or Civic. Both will easily get close to 40 MPG and you won't have any hybrid-related cost issues down the road.

    Unless you're an enthusiast. :)

I should've specified, my comments referred to older Prii that were more likely to need a battery replacement within 5 or so years.

Congrats on the purchase. The 4th Gen Prius with its improved lithium battery is one heck of a nice car. :)

It’s a blast to drive it and I am loving I don’t have to put 40 bucks of gas weekly.

I have around $5000 for a project still. I am planning on saving 2k for anything I might have to fix on the 2001 Prius and the rest on a 2004-2009 Prius. I’ve worked on almost anything but a Prius

Like a Prius, did you get a diagnostic equipment yet? If so, as a guy new to Prius, which are you finding most helpful?

And those same programs will work on both of them, I think. Not so sure on the 2019.

    I ended buying a 2005 with 198k for $600

Passenger door hit with a deer, most likely will spend a few thousands dollars fixing it. Battery warning is light but I bought a used HV battery for $100 bucks the other day so I’ll be seeing which cells and are bad and attempting to reconditioning. It shouldn’t be harder than trying to reconditioned and balance 149 lithium 18650s if the process isn’t different than draining them charging them a few times over to see if I can bring back to life and to see which ones are good.
