This may be a coincidence, and I hope it is, but is Toyota using our mileage info uploaded via Safety Connect to trigger reminders for Toyota Care service visits?

I'm signed up for Safety Connect. I know it uploads vehicle data after every drive for the app, etc. I knew this going in.

I just passed 5,000 miles two days ago. Yesterday, I received a VOIP phone call from a supposed local number. (reverse lookup found nothing) She asked for me by name, refereed to my exact vehicle type and said "We see it's time for you to schedule your first Toyota Care Service visit." It caught me off guard. I haven't quite decided how I feel about this.

Has anyone else that's signed up to Safety Connect had this happen?

probably a coincidence. i got a call like that once, no safety connect, but they were very close on the mileage.

Coincidence, Mark. Oh, by the way, the milk in your frig is about to go bad. Replace it.

Took delivery Sept 14th. The timing was spooky. I've gotten these calls before, they were from the dealer and never mentioned any of the specific info she did.

Thanks, we did yesterday. LOL. Hey, go see if I have enough under wear for this week. Thanks . . . .

You do. But socks need to be checked. That damn dryer keeps eating one now and then.

I fitted my car with a kind of tin foil hat. Seems to do the trick but may decrease mileage a bit.

I got a call from the dealer I bought my car from a month after I bought it asking if I wanted to trade. I said I just bought the car a month ago. So, they don't always have an accurate handle on things.

The dryer does not eat socks. It is the washer. Because they are small, sometimes they get flipped up over the perforated drum, and eventually get sucked into the drain. Septic tank pumper personnel can confirm this.

Does this only happen with top-loading, or do front-loading washers do that too?

It seems that some socks prefer top-loaders, while others go for those front-loaders. It's a sock thing!

It's happens to both. The design of the machines is essentially the same, except for the orientation of motion (and the design of the requiste seals). The same thing happens to to women's panties. But you never hear about that because of the uncomfortable discussions that ensue.

Damn, I might go back to taking my laundry down to the creek and beating it with a rock.
