It’s hot in CA why does fan take forever to kick on after starting car?

    "It's hot". I'd love to swap temps with you! Looks like you'll have a high of around 72 degrees in LA today compared to 101 degrees in Las Vegas.

    Is there a setting for "rear camera delay" ?
    If you stop smoking your tires when backing up, maybe the camera could keep up. :ROFLMAO:

    As @alanclarkeau mentioned earlier, home air conditioners do the same thing. The fan doesn't start till there's something cold to blow through it. Also, on the home a/c, the fan continues to run after the compressor stops in order to avoid stranding cold air in the ducts and wasting it. Probably unnecessary in a car since the ducts are so short.

    There is a similar reason.
    When the A/C shuts off, the evaporator is still wet and somewhat cold. After it sits a while, it is then wet and warm or HOT.
    If you blast air through it immediately upon starting, you get a BLAST of hot damp air. Not what you want.
    Patience is a virtue.

    i open the doors in that kind of heat and stand outside waiting for some to escape. so 10 seconds wouldn't bother me.

    Mine does, it takes about 10 seconds for the Nav screen (aka reversing camera screen) to boot up, by that time I've down to the end of my drive using the mirrors.
