Unlike steroids, gambling was clearly forbidden.

Why all the sympathy for Pete Rose? Why?
What is it about human nature to try to make a victim out of a perp?

The chorus line expresses my view.

    That is unproven.

No one is on the side that Pete Rose did not gamble.

What is in typical discussion does the punishment fit the crime.

Pete got his due, fired, # unable to be retired by the Reds although they never assigned that number to another player, barred from the Hall of Fame vote.

    Pete is 70 years old.

None of his meager bets changed the game. No one brought evidence that can prove that.

Perhaps he was just another of the countless Millions with a gambling addiction.

He claims never to bet against his own team. Maybe that is moot, maybe not.

Everyone has an opinion. Some say he should carry the punishment to the grave.

Others say it is time to put this behind us and honor the man for the records he broke.

Americans are very forgiven and forgetful.
If Pete admits his wrongs, he will be forgiven and may be in the HOF.

    F*** Pete Rose.

It wasn't enough that he was a well paid professional baseball player.
It was his decision to bet on games while managing.
And it was also his decision to deny deny deny.

Shed no tears for Charlie Hustle.

Perhaps Pete's luck may change if 78 year old Bud Selig retires or passes on.

Which is why we should not let him see his own induction into the MLBBHOF... he was gonna get in, and he didn't care about the rules.

Posthumously would be his only venue = if they allowed him at all... did any of the players on the "black sox ever get in and if so, when...

Overlooked in the discussion is why is there a Hall Of Fame to begin with. The HOF cannot change history. Whether it is Pete Rose or Lance Armstrong, what they did (good and bad) is established and etched in stone. So the question is how much do we want to glorify them....and why.

Pete Rose should be proud of his playing record. But he doesn't deserve to be in the HOF. There are consequences for what he did and this is one of them. Is he forgiven for what he did? I would say yes, but forgiveness does not change the outcome or reinstatement to HOF as if it never happened. How people think they can lie or blame their problems on someone or something else and think it okay boggles my mind. The problem with society today is everyone is becoming accustomed to relying on someone or something else for their success or failures when it all really comes down to the individual being the sole factor of success or failure in life.

Do you remember what Pete said before he admitted he did gamble on baseball... and for how long he called others that were telling the truth that they were liars.

    He wasn't honorable then Bra...

Posthumous in-statement because he wasn't honorable.

Hey, let's add Nixon's likeness to Mt. Rushmore!

He went to China and signed the first nuclear arms reduction treaty - great on foreign policy when America was at it's weakest during the Cold War.

He was a role model on par with Pete Rose, so let's do it!

Did Nixon play for the Reds? :)

    Pete is living this today.

Frankly I don't give a rats hair about Pete Rose.

Someone I work with who lives in Boulder County Colorado said they meet him by chance in a restaurant and he took time to talk to her children and signed an autograph. He was very kind, patient and sincere.

I would not put him in a category of a OJ a suspected Murder or Paula Deen a admitted racist.

Everyone has an opinion. Pete had a gambling addiction. My opinion is far more have been pardoned for far less although i can't come up with one. Yep he denied it. No one is asking for a Rushmore. Even Nixon in his Watergate scandal is noted for ended the Vietnam war. A unpopular war. Perhaps Pete Rose had some good as well.

History will tell us if he is admitted to the HOF or hall of shame. Not following the post death stance sounds extensive and vindictive.

Compassion is a sign of intelligence. Not expecting it. Ultimately Pete created his destiny and if he is in or out gambling will be his Demise however the Game of Baseball may be better served on how it treats it's record breaking players and forgive them there injustice if the injustice is within reason prior to the grave. In this time of great divide on the Pete Rose issue Perhaps I'm the few who ask that we seek our better angels. For Pete's Sake.

Pete Rose did not make a mistake.

    He made a CHOICE.

Like the rest of us (myself included), he faces consequences for bad choices.

Just another example of people ruled by feelings instead of thoughts, principles, or common sense.
