interesting stats on this plug-in. The Intriguing thing is - that supposedly charging runs @450v. Yet Jaguar says it takes 90 minutes to charge from a low of 20% to a high of 80%. As pointed out in the video, that math means a 35kW charging speed.
Some videos point out how the Jaguar is as fast as the model X, but it's 1,000Lbs lighter so well yeah.
All in all, this thing is still really nice! It will be difficult for quick charging just due to the manufacturer's being lazy about building a Tesla type network. So .... for long distance travelers, the supercharger network is still a huge trump card, despite Tesla's Growing Pains / warts with fit & finish, a feature that Jaguar has dialed in much better...
    Choices! Always a good thing.

The reviewer was impressed by the I-Pace creature comforts and familiar surroundings of the cabin. Yet he pointed out the mechanical inefficiency relative to the Tesla. So if you have to choose between a comfy cabin or 15% more travel, well it is your money weighted against goals and objectives.

The reviewer also points out the advantage of the SuperCharger network. The I-Pace can not use it but the Tesla can use the same chargers as the I-Pace.

Let's remember that Tesla is mature in many respects. This is Jaguar's first swing at this type of vehicle. In two years, the quality, features, implementation and efficiency will all improve. With respect to the range, for most people the 200 miles is more than sufficient for every day use.

Come on people (Tesla Fans) don't tell me that the Model X is nicer then this new JAG! This car is so much better looking on the outside and that interior is what every car should want to be. Well done Jaguar!

Since Jaguar was 10 years late to the party, you're expecting them to be Tesla efficient 12 years late?

All kidding aside, there are people who rate cabin comfort higher than efficiency. Their money, enjoy it.

Actually the nicest cars are my:
    • 2014 BMW i3-REx
    • 2017 Prius Prime
Both are EV efficient around town, ~90% of our miles, and gasoline fast and affordable on vacation, ~10%.

I agree, love my Prius. But for comparing BEV, Jaguar has Tesla best on this one. It is going to get uglier for Tesla! Can't wait to see the new Porsche.

It is rarely the pioneers in an industry who are successful long term. Look at phone manufacturers. Apple and Google were late comers and they are now the leaders. Where are Nokia, LG and Sony? Tesla is essentially an incubator for other companies to observe, correct their mistakes and adopt their successes and provide additional innovation. A good read on this subject is, "The Innovator's Dilemma."

The innovations Tesla (as well as Apple and other companies) bring to market become commodity knowledge very quickly, and often are crude solutions after a period of time. Others observe, reverse-engineer, innovate, adopt and improve at will. Right now the Chinese are knocking off Tesla's software and driving controls with their own electric cars. The design of electric motors and their controls are well known. What cost Tesla billions and years to develop will be duplicated for millions or less in months by existing companies and startups. Existing auto makers have the advantage of oceans of assets and manufacturing/marketing capacity, Jag is years ahead of Tesla on experience in designing, manufacturing and selling automobiles.

Frankly, one of the design features I find very exciting in the Jaguar are the riveted frame components. This makes so much more sense than welding in terms of rigidity, simplicity and replacement.

Finally, given the choice between a comparable Model 3 and the iPace, I know where I would put my money. And it would not be with Tesla. But alas, given my current situation with respect to my driving habits and lack of charging stations where I drive, a car with less than a 500 mile range is out of the question. Therefore, the hybrid is my best current option, regardless of price.

there's a bit of irony in Jaguar's new parent company. You experience Jaguar quality & you want to leave. You say Tata. And the India companyTata Motors now owns Jaguar.

Actually since Ford sold Jaguar to Tata Motors, Jaguar reliability has improved. Same with Land Rover.
