Are there any documented differences between the two? Obviously, driver side and localization don't count. I know that Japanese 1st gen pip had some minor differences, like heated steering wheel option (don't remember the others).

There are nations where you can import used Japanese Domestic cars, I mostly hear Australia and New Zealand. Unless you read Japanese, all the on screen prompts and error messages will be meaningless. You can find many threads here with folks wondering what their screen means.

The Lime green heat reducing colour is exclusive to Japan IIRC.

I think Japan gets better features, but just as noted, gonna have to solve the language issue somehow.

Did the Japanese Prime get e-Four, or was that just the Prius?

The PV roof option isn't available in the US.

That's absolutely true for other cars I compared, but know nothing about Prime/PHV. Also, in the "1.8 S Navi Package" (where S is supposed to be intermediate trim between poorer L and reacher G) there are a lot of features from Prime Advanced. Here are some:

    - LED headlights
    - LED rearlights
    - LED DRL
    - heated steering wheel
    - IPA (parking assist)
    - ICS (sonars/parking sensors)

I wonder what the G trim will have? May be rain and light sensors... Localization isn't a problem these days, and also I was flashed multi-information displays on Japanese Gen3 (PiPs as well).

Unless you want to buy a 20th Anniversary Prius (regular Prius, not Prime), I'm not sure there's too many differences. The Prime/PHV is available with the solar roof and the 120V accessory outlet for camping. (this is using the charging port). Also, you can get the GR Sport PHV (based on the S trim level).

    There's no longer L and G grades. It's S and A. (or in the case of the Prius, E, S, A, A Premium)

The big difference is right or left hand drive. Which do you prefer? Here both are legal, but they may not be where you are.
I love that lime green energy efficient colour. To bad we can't get it here.
