Here is a Japanese PHV Webpage with Google translation. There is a lot of good information found here.

The FAQ also says 26.4 EV km in the JC-08 cycle, and 3 kwh to charge the battery (presumably from 'empty.')

I just do not see how the PiP is going to manage anywhere near 15 CD miles on the EPA test. Sounding much more like 15 blended miles on the EPA cycle.

What if it does not blend but simply switches between EV and HV mode? HV mode is charge sustain so SOC when the ICE shut down = SOC before ICE starts.

Just to be different I want one of those PHV emblems next to PRIUS on the back... (They'll be available on eBay I'm sure but prices for japanese stuff for Prius on there are CRAZY high).

I found this tidbit in the FAQ section:

    Google Translate
It specifically mentions vehicles equipped with HDD nav will get less EV mileage?? I thought maybe the G and G Leather + HDD nav option came with larger 17" wheels, but that doesnt seem to be the case either. The only other thing that I found that relates to the HDD nav system is that it weighs +10kg more than a car without it (here). I must be missing something.. loss of 2km due to 10kg seems odd. Actually, the leather adds another 20kg. So an additional 10-30kg loses up to 2km of EV driving?

Going by my feeling when driving my 2011 S with and without my wife and daughter on board, that figure doesn't entirely surprise me. I live in Japan and 30kg is only half a person's weight. The navigation system must be ridiculously heavy too.

My Toyoda dealer has a power station for the plug-in in the customer car park now, i noticed on my last visit. A couple of neighbors have the Leaf. Unfortunately I live in an apartment so plug-in anything isn't going to work for me, lest I'm allowed to dangle an extension lead out my window around the building and across the parking area. :flypig:

I'd love a set of those tail lights, but Toyota charge ~$500 per side for them.

The reason is on the JC08 test vehicle weight category.
The chassis dynamo load is 1470kg for a vehicle between 1311kg and 1420kg.
And, the load is 1590kg for a vehicle between 1421kg and 1530kg.
The normal G grade is 1420kg, so it is tested with 1470kg load.
The G + HDD is 1430kg, so it is tested with 1590kg load.

Therefore, the 10kg difference brings 120kg load difference on the JC08 test.
