Me too, I haven't gone for the canview because it is too visually cluttered and kinda DOS like. This is more like it.

So you can't learn the dozen or so characters English translation and remember them? Come on the thing is mainly in English. Look you can use it today!!!

I'm not sure... if the dash part of the picture wasn't so bright, you could probably tell if it was an '05 or '06. The display seems fairly high res, though...

It looks like the 2006's high-resolution MFD to me.

From left to right, the vertical bar-graphs are SOC, battery volts, amps, speed?, RPM, and instantaneous MPG. At the bottom center is average km/liter and km per tank, similar to our average MPG and miles/tank.

Bottom left looks like current flow over time. Bottom right is the MPG history per kilometer, rather than time.

Looks like a 2006 display. I don't think a pre-2006 can display such crisp, smoothly round, small numbers with color ranges and tiny ticks like that.

This would be really kick-nice person if it was the standard Prius display.

We also don't know how to get one. And we don't know how it'll look like the final product yet. :)

I posted this info in the Found Reader (http://priuschat.com/Found-Reader-t20057.html) thread too:

Wow, NICE display. I'm a CAN-View V3 owner and while I love my CAN-View, that display is awesome. Unfortunately I don't understand/read Japanese. but I did find the original post which is at:

    http://eshy.s22.xrea.com/cgi-bin/c-board/c...5746;id=epv1710

Most of the Japanese to English URL translators are bad or don't work at all but I found that one that is pretty good. Try:

    http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/

and enter the URL above. Then you'll be able to get a "broken English" translation of each post in the thread.

For instance the main post translates to:

    --------------------------------------------
Making of fuel cost goods for trial purposes[/]b
    Hahatarou
    06/5/25 (Thursday) 7:29

White Mr. EPV2 and nice to meet you.
It is a person named Hahatarou that became a Prius owner in December the year before last.
We wish always to express our gratitude for valuable information obtained here.

It was stimulated by Mr. GTP of Mr. going, Mr. Attila, and Yami, and I also made the fuel cost goods.
It is a thing and a display update speed that stuck to at which it is made to display in EMV. It was thought that it returned it even a little to getting the dissemination from you always, and made it contribute though the bug remained still a little (The temperature of the engine was a half).
    --------------------------------------------

In the thread he also posted a circuit diagram!

From reading the text I gather he uses the MAP steering wheel button to toggle between his system and the Nav system. Definitely RGB video output so definitely 2004-2005 MFD (EMV in Japanese)

Put me down for one, maybe some captial from presales will help develop the unit? The current MFD dislpay is a joke, the wheels ICE/motor battery thing is good for learning to drive the car but after that, it's kind of dorky.

    This is really neat.
I'd want one too for my '06.

    ...and maybe a VGA-in too.

Does the Japanese 04/05 have the same resolution MFD as the US version? I'm surprised that this looks so crisp considering how low resolution our MFD is...
